Founded by the legendary Rai Bahadur M. S. Oberoi on October 6, 1950, HRANI has come a long way in serving the cause of the Hospitality Industry in North India. The mission, which was started with just 27 members, has today grown as an association with more than 1700 members from North India.
Hotel and Restaurant Association of Northern India (HRANI) - a Northern outfit of FHRAI is an apex body representing Hotel & Restaurant Industry of the 9 North Indian States. Since its birth, the organisation has been effectively working for the cause of hospitality industry and plays an important role in developing tourism in the states, which come under its purview. These nine states are Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
HRANI’s constant endeavour is to promote the standards and quality of the services extended to the tourism sector of the country for integrated growth of the industry. In India, tourism is the second largest earner of foreign exchange and the single largest generator of employment. Currently the industry provided accommodation of about 2.7 million foreign tourists and about 140 million domestic travellers.
The member states of HRANI include - Delhi which is a commanding symbol of new India representing a seamless confluence of heritage and modernity; Rajasthan which has created some of the highly recognized products like ‘Heritage Hotels’ in global tourism; Uttar Pradesh whose vast reserve of locales, religious sites including the renowned Taj Mahal attracts all kind of tourists nationally and internationally; the state of Himachal Pradesh which is blessed with natural beauty, splendour and a serene environment offering tremendous potential for all sorts of tourism; Uttarakhand which is referred to as the Devbhumi - "Land of the Gods" and is known for its natural beauty of the Himalayas, the Bhabar and the Terai; Jammu and Kashmir where tourism has gained momentum of late after years of insurgency, the vibrant state of Haryana which presents a vivid kaleidoscope of diverse landscapes, showcasing magnificent archaeology, celebrating art and culture and preserving the best of both the worlds – the footprints of the bygone eras and a futuristic vision; Punjab which is known for its cuisine, culture and history making Tourism a swiftly expanding sector in the state and finally there is Chandigarh which is the best-planned city in India with its world renowned architecture and unparalleled quality of life.
HRANI has come to known as a model trade organization and its members include the well-known names in the hospitality industry like Oberoi’s. ITC Welcome Group, Taj Group, Inter Continental New Delhi, Meridians, Hyatt, Jaypee Group, Radisson, Claridges, Crowne Plaza Surya, Ambassador, McDonalds, Ruby Tuesday, Rodeo Group, Nirula’s, Kwality, Haldiram’s and Pizza Hut, etc. The medium and small level hotels, which are also members of the association, are given equal opportunity to safeguard their interests along with bigger names.
