CHARCOAL IN THE LIST OF APPROVED FUELS, PROACTIVE HRANI EFFORTS BEAR FRUITS

Eateries and foodies both need not worry about change in taste of their tandoori delicacies

The proactive efforts of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Northern India bear fruits as Delhi Pollution Control Committee; Govt of NCT of Delhi has come out with a notification allowing the Incorporation of Charcoal in the List of approved fuels. It has been notified vide F. No. DPCC/RDPC/141/2017/3692 dated 29.06.2018. As per the said notification, usage of wood charcoal is permitted for Tandoors and Grills of Hotels, Restaurants, banquet hall eating houses having emission channelization / control system.

On behalf of Delhi fraternity, HRANI is thankful to the Committee constituted by DPCC for considering the suggestions submitted by HRANI and other trade bodies favourably said Sanjay Sood, President, HRANI.

The concern of food industry of not being able to offer customers authentic 'tandoori' flavour arose from rebuffing charcoal from the list of approved fuels in Delhi. HRANI with other trade bodies relentlessly pleaded DPCC for including charcoal under the approved fuels and our submission has been favourably heard by the Government stated Garish Oberoi, Chairman, Delhi Committee, HRANI & President, FHRAI.
