SUB:- Update- Status Review Meeting with Secretary Tourism – COVID 19

Dear Member,

Best Greetings.

This is to update you that FHRAI with FAITH had requested for a status update meeting with the Ministry of Tourism (MOT). The meeting (on video conference) was chaired by Secretary-Tourism along with Director General, Joint Secretary & Additional Director General-Tourism. From the industry were the FAITH Office Bearers’ team, the 10 Presidents of the FAITH member Associations and Chairmen/Vice-Chairmen of the Tourism Sub-committees of CII, FICCI, PHDCCI & Internet Mobile Association.

Mr. Gurbaxish Singh Kohli, Vice President FHRAI, was present in the meeting along with all the other Presidents of various Associations, who are the Board Members of FAITH.

The industry highlighted its concern that the relief measures announced till date have not still addressed the urgency of survival crisis being faced by the Indian, tourism, travel & hospitality and there need to be immediate steps to be taken on survival measures (Sharing with you as an attachment the status of the relief measures announced till date and the gap areas still to be addressed). The industry discussed with the Secretary-Tourism, point by point, on the status of all the measures announced till date and the gap areas that need to be still addressed for its survival.

Secretary-Tourism updated us that across all the key Ministries of the Government, it has been widely acknowledged and accepted that Indian tourism industry will be one of the worst hit from this pandemic. He mentioned that this is of very high concern to the Government and this acceptance, itself, within the Government is a big move forward for us. We hope that our relief measures will be prioritised accordingly soon….

Secretary-Tourism thanked the whole tourism industry for standing as one with MOT and proactively partnering with it for all the ‘information & recommendation’ critical to make the immediate submissions before the Hon’ble Finance Minister. This, he said, is of very high significance since the industry is highly unorganised and lacks data.

The Secretary-Tourism has requested FAITH to summarise once again, across the industry the key action points which are required for survival and for revival which will be led by stimulating the domestic tourism demand. If there is anything you would like to specifically cover please email us as soon as possible on eatosg@fhrai.com  and we shall include it in our representation.

Shall keep you updated on the same.

Thank you,

Best regards,

Rahul Lall
Secretary General
