Government extends Emergency Credit Loan Guarantee Scheme till March 31, 2021
The Emergency Credit Loan Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) was initially supposed to end on October 30, 2020, but was then extended by a month and was supposed to end on November 30.

The existing Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 1.0 has been extended till March 31, 2021. The FM also announced the launch of ECLGS 2.0 which will provide guaranteed credit support to 26 stressed sectors identified by Kamath Committee.

The ECLGS provides 100 percent guarantee coverage by National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company (NCGTC) to Member Lending Institutions (MLIs) on Guaranteed Emergency Credit Line (GECL) of up to Rs. 3 lakh crore to eligible MSMEs.

The scheme was launched as part of the first Atma Nirbhar Bharat package in May to mitigate the distress caused by coronavirus pandemic-induced lockdown, by providing credit to different sectors, especially micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

By extending ECLGS scheme with 100 percent guaranteed collateral-free credit at capped interest rates to entities in the stressed sectors with no upper ceiling on annual turnover will help medium-sized companies to utilise the opportunity in improving their business performance stated Sh. Surendra Kumar Jaiswal, President HRANI and Vice President FHRAI. It will also provide much-needed relief to stressed sectors by helping entities sustain employment and meet liabilities added Sh. Jaiswal.
